When the music speaks

While pregnant, one song or another always starts to speak with me. For instance, Travis Tritt’s ‘A Great Day to Be Alive’ was always on my lips during my first pregnancy. What I loved to dance to? ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor. Afterward, all I heard was ‘Chicken Fried’ by the Zac Brown Band.
With Brennan it was ‘Sparks Fly’ by Taylor Swift– and I got my green eyed girl. With ‘Mean’ by Taylor Swift as my post-baby jam.
Pregnant with Casey it was ‘Wanted’ by Hunter Hayes. She was my rainbow baby and I really was attached to this kid, had so many issues- it might be a romantic love song, but the title says it all. It was definitely my theme song then, and afterward I could not possibly quit singing ‘Ain’t nothing wrong with the radio’ by Aaron Tippin… I’m not sure why, but that song didn’t let me go for weeks on end.

Baby #4 gets Ed Sheeran ‘Thinking out loud’ with special notice for Rachel Platten’s ‘Fight Song.’
